Visits and Veterans

Veteran’s Day is right around the corner, and our third graders here at Cannan have been preparing their program with Mrs. Christie in order to show their pride in our country’s veterans. Cannan welcomes the privilege to pay tribute to those brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country, and encourages them to attend our program on Monday morning at 9:00, along with the parade soon afterwards at 9:30. Today, Cannan also welcomed the American Legion Honor Guard to come and speak with our students while awarding prizes to a select few for an essay written with the prompt, “What does the flag mean to you?” Cannan would like to thank the American Legion for taking the time to visit and educate the Cannan Wildkats about the pride and heritage of our nation’s heroes, and for showing our students the meaning behind the folding of our flag.

We are also hosting author Amber Manning, one of our very own parents, for a visit with our students through specials on Thursday. Students get a peek into the world of being an author and ask questions! She is a local who wanted to dedicate a book to the state she loves, and so presented her work to our students: Mighty Big and Super Great: Texas is the “Lone Star State”! The experience was both entertaining and educational!
