I graduated from Western Michigan University and began my teaching career in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I was employed at a private school as a 5th grade teacher and librarian. There I met my husband Coach Blake. We moved to Willis in 1994. I spent the early years of our marriage raising our 2 sons. I was actively involved in PTO at both C. C. Hardy and A.R. Turner Elementary before starting back to work as a paraprofessional the year our youngest son started Kindergarten. A year later I found myself teaching 1st grade at Cannan Elementary. The following year I was assigned to teach 2nd grade at Cannan, where I contiuned to teach for the next 10 years, serving as team leader for several years. I then taught two years of 1st grade before moving to 3rd grade. I have been teaching in Willis for 19 years. I am currently teaching third grade math/science and serving as the 3rd grade team leader. I have two sons. My son Alex graduated from Willis ISD in 2008 and went on to graduate from Cardozo law in NYC. He is now practicing law there. My son Zach graduated graduated from Willis ISD in 2012 and went on to graduate from SHSU with a criminal justice degree.
