Back to School Again
Cannan Elementary opened its doors again this week after a difficult period following the arrival of hurricane Harvey. Despite this, the community stood together, and continues to do so with pride and unity. Projects restarted, instruction began once again, and the staff worked hard to make the students feel welcome after a trying time for southeast Texas. Cannan is also taking donations for food, hygiene, cleaning supplies, and school supplies to assist those still in need. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to making this community shine.
With the year moving forward, some of the events at Cannan are coming up fast. The book fair begins today and runs through September 22nd, and will feature many great selections for the students. If you plan to send money with your student or make a purchase at the fair, please be sure to include enough for taxes after your subtotal. Our library is also proud to announce that author Nancy Robinson Masters will visit on September 13th to meet with our students!
Open House is next week on September 12th, and teachers are excited to welcome parents into their classrooms. The event will be held in two parts, so please be advised that Pre-K through 2nd Grade will be starting up at 5 PM, while 3rd through 5th Grade starts at 6 PM. Cannan also opens its doors for Grandparents' Day on September 14th.
